Daylight Savings Time is evil and should be outlawed (Putin’s Russia has already done that! 🙂 ).
I am building directing Cursor to build a dashboard and it’s really a headache to work properly in 1 hour resolution around the DST boundaries. Like, in spring you skip an hour and have a 23 hour day, and in the fall it’s even worse, as you repeat the same hour twice, with different UTC values.
In the meantime, I just ignore it, I take current UTC offset and apply it retroactively to the past, so all days are exactly 24 hours. This is obviously inaccurate, but hey… [imagine this text is a TikTok video, and it loops from the beginning]
PS. Of course, being a smart AI that will take over my job and then over the world, Cursor and its friend Opus 4.6 completely ignored the issue of time zones, so “today” in their world starts at 19:00 yesterday.
