Instability is bad, but letting me specify a combination of template parameters that cannot possilby work is much worse. In VS 2019 with dotnet core 3.0, I created an ASP.NET web application, specified “Linux” as platform, and “store user accounts in-app” for authentication. The wizard obliged, but when I tried to run it, I received this error:<\/p>\n

PlatformNotSupportedException: LocalDB is not supported on this platform<\/code><\/p>\n

On Windows user credentials are stored in a local SQL Server database, but Linux does not have that. It would be much more sensible to detect this and warn me before<\/em> I created the project, not after I have compiled and run it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
